October 19- 2002 Year Investment Financing Programme of State Economic Enterprises (SEEs) was announced. BRSA approved change of name of Bankekspres as Tekfenbank.
October 20- The 17th Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Commercial and Economic Cooperation Standing Committee (COMCEC) meeting was held in Istanbul.
October 22- Treasury presented the new guaranty model which was developed for 29 build-operate-transfer projects, to companies.
October 23- SDIF-controlled Turkish Nippon Insurance was sold to Canadian businessman Hussein Nuaman Soutraki. OYAK was allowed to examine Etibank.
October 24- In their joint statement, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Cakan and State Minister Dervis explained the conditions of extension of guarantee to 29 build-operate-transfer projects. They said that guarantee would be given if those projects were implemented by the end of 2002. Central Bank revised super foreign exchange accounts and foreign exchange deposit accounts with letter of credit. 50 billion TL of the total interest income from the state debenture bonds and Treasury bonds were exempt from tax.
October 25- Agriculture Labor Unions (Taris) announced the gross acid base olive oil purchase price including premium as 2.8 million TL. Five percent of Demirbank`s Demir Investment was sold to Deniz Investment.
October 29- The 2002 Year Programme was released. The agreement on renewal of the Gurbulak Border Gate by the International Transporters Association (UND) with build-operate-transfer model was signed.
October 30- Demirbank was handed over to HSCB. Disbank decided to close down its participation namely Cyprus Foreign Trade Bank Offshore in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
October 31- Arthur Andersen was selected as the counsellor for privatization of Turkish Telekom.
