Inventory Control Lead

POSITION SCOPE:

Under the direction of the Inventory Manager, the Lead Hand facilitates the effective resolution of inventory discrepancies and location issues, assists with the distribution of workload amongst staff, provides absence/vacation back-up coverage for key roles, and helps maintain an organized, safe and productive work environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

· Performs quality control verification checks ensuring proper movement and labelling of product, along with correctness of inventory locations and proper stacking methods for optimized inventory integrity

· Conducts inventory-related troubleshooting, verifies orders and maintains appropriate inventory levels and product loss control

· Communicates and coordinates with departments/supervisors to ensure flow and throughput is optimized

· Facilitates coordinating and conducting cycle counts and provides accurate analysis and account of product damages and disposals

· Assists in controlling inventory and allocating space for stock by applying strong organization and time management skills

· Recommends changes in procedures to improve the operating efficiency of the department, and leads improvement projects and initiatives as assigned

· Assists in assigning warehouse team members to meet the demands of the facility, while working alongside with them providing guidance as required

· Maintains various records and reports as necessary, including tracking data for KPIs and other departmental metrics as may be established from time to time

· Provides backup coverage for absences and vacations within the inventory team and performs various administrative duties as assigned

· Completes forklift inspections, maintains all inspection records, and ensures that deficiencies are documented, communicated and corrected with urgency as required

· Assists in onboarding and training new hires, and facilitates other training sessions as needed

· Works closely with supervisors and management to achieve business objectives and support growth

· Performs additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum high school education required, additional relevant courses an asset


· Previous inventory control experience required

· Flexible and able to work overtime hours as required, and must be able to get to this location reliably and consistently

· Certified Counterbalance operator with valid license and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant driving experience in a busy warehouse environment

· Strong English verbal and written communication skills

· Experience with ERP software and warehouse management systems required, SAP preferred

· Demonstrated proficiency using RF scanners and various other software/systems for effective and efficient warehouse transactions

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Leads by example, with quality and safety top of mind

· Organized, detail oriented, thorough worker

· Ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly throughout an 8 hour shift
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding warehouse environment
